Minimising our environmental footprint

Commands is conscious of our responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint across all areas of our business and help our customers achieve their environmental objectives. We are ISO 14001 accredited, which means we are operating in an environmentally sustainable way and equally that we comply with current regulations.

Many businesses we work with are already using our recycled packaging. We use FSC approved suppliers for our envelopes and we offer other 100% recyclable and reusable options for packaging and packing. Our eco-chips and pulp-paper packaging are also completely biodegradable and compostable.  We can also support customers looking for bespoke sustainable solutions using our network of trusted suppliers to identify and source alternatives.

Our staff are fully-trained to separate packaging materials according to best practice guidelines. We are always looking for ways to cut down on waste. We work collaboratively with our customers to continuously improve in this area.

Direct Mail 

• Envelopes – FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved suppliers
• Polylope – both biodegradable or recyclable used

E-Commerce Fulfilment 

• Eco chips –  made from potato starch that dissolve in water and are 100% biodegradable and compostable.
• Paper pulp (moulded pulp) drinks packaging – 100% recycled, 100% biodegradable and compostable. Extremely lightweight yet strong, durable, 
• Eco-friendly void filling paper 
• Air cushions, sacs, shock – 100% recyclable & reusable, 99% air, EN 13427 compliant
• Biodegradable bubble wrap
• Paper, plastics and cardboard are recycled
• Real time online reporting – cutting down the need to print reports

Training

• Staff are trained to separate packaging material
• Staff are employed to breakdown cardboard, separate recycling, prepare for collection

ISO 14001

Commands is ISO 14001 accredited.  ISO 14001 is an internationally-recognised certificate used to evaluate how environmental responsibilities are measured.
